A number of parallel sessions on Saturday and Sunday afternoons will be available for the presentation of papers not previously invited and published. There will be a considerable number of these sessions available, allowing room for many submissions to be included. The intention is to accommodate all philosophical material, so far as time and space in the programme allow. Each presentation should last no more than 20 minutes so that a further 10-15 minutes may be allowed for discussion. Presented papers should aim to introduce material involving recent research. There are no restrictions on the areas of philosophy which papers may address. Philosophers whose papers are included in this part of the programme must be or become subscribing members of one of the organising societies. Anyone may submit a paper for presentation in these sessions, including graduate students, but no one may submit a paper for both the open and graduate sessions. GuidelinesThose wishing to make a presentation should submit a copy of their paper, together with an abstract of no more than 250 words, via the Joint Session website: www.abdn.ac.uk/jointsession2008 by 1st February 2008. This facility will be in operation from December. The organizers can be contacted by email on js@abdn.ac.uk. Papers should be no more than 2000 words (excluding abstract). Decisions on which papers have been accepted will be made by the end of March 2008. Authors wishing for an earlier response should submit papers as early as possible. Unlike the invited papers, papers accepted for presentation in the Open Sessions will not be published in the Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society. They may, of course, be submitted for publication in Mind, or any other journal. Authors of selected papers will not have their expenses paid. Please note: Submissions to both the open and graduate sessions is prohibited and only one paper may be submitted per individual. |
