Since 1918, the Proceedings of the Aristotelian Society, Supplementary Volume has been published as a bound, hardcover journal, which includes the inaugural address and symposia delivered at the Joint Session with the Mind Association. Since 2000, the Supplementary Volume has been published as an online issue in co-operation with Wiley-Blackwell.

The inaugural address is delivered by the incoming President of the Mind Association. The symposiasts are selected by the Editor, who in turn relies on nominations given during an annual joint meeting between the two organising societies.

Past Joint Sessions

The tradition of having the Joint Session take place outside London at a different university every year perhaps has its origins in a "special meeting" convened by the Society, one which occured in the summer of 1908 at the University of Cambridge. Ever since, the Society - which was later joined by the Mind Association and the British Psychological Society in 1910 - concluded its London Session with a three-day gathering consisting of an inaugural address, a dinner with members from the organising societies, and a series of symposia.

The 2011 Joint Session occurred at the University of Sussex from 8 to 10 July 2011.
