James was awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton in November 2025 for his research on the connection between grounding and causation. He currently teaches at Southampton, maintains a research interest in metaphysics, and is the AI Ethics Lead in Clinical Scientific Computing at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. At the Aristotelian Society, James’s role includes handling membership orders and grant applications; communicating with members of the Society, speakers, and the public through email and social media; and maintaining and developing the website.
